CAMPAIGN – GRAPHIC DESIGN, LAYOUT, PHOTO RETOUCHING & EDITING, PRE-PRINT
The Mission:
In 2023, the VisitLEX team and I embarked on a mission for a world first. We were going to beam a bitmap travel ad to aliens 40 light years away in a distant star system using an infrared laser. With the help of Dr. Robert Lodder, an expert in Computer Engineering and SETI, we were cleared for launch, but we needed some sweet bomber jackets first.
THE MESSAGE
Designing the message was a fun blend of graphic design, cryptography, and distilling visual elements to their essence. We also shared photos of Lexington, horses, bourbon, and even the group that attended the broadcast party!
After the launch, our project was immortalized in the Lexington Visitor’s Center. I designed the wrap for the display box that showcases the message and images we sent. The box contains a mission jacket, the laser used to broadcast the message, and a time capsule filled with pre-broadcast messages from Lexington citizens.
The stunt was well received, garnering 3 billion impressions and a ton of earned media placements.
